PAK-C07 · Certificate

Certificate in Railway Welding & Fabrication

6 Months · 12 two-week modules. The current curriculum architecture focuses on railway fabrication, welding processes and workshop-quality awareness.

Programme overview

A structured railway-learning pathway

PAK-C07 develops focused technical knowledge and supervised practical competence for learners entering railway welding, fabrication, repair, production and quality environments. It is designed for workshop trainees, fabricators, junior welding personnel, production technicians, maintenance personnel, inspectors-in-training and learners progressing toward PAK-D05 or related specialist programmes.

The programme progresses from railway-welding safety, drawings and documentation into engineering materials and weldability; manual and semi-mechanized welding-process fundamentals; joint preparation, fit-up and welding symbols; welding metallurgy, heat-affected-zone behaviour and distortion; parameter/consumable/process control; railway fabrication; weld-defect recognition and NDT awareness; WPS/WPQR and personnel-qualification concepts; EN 15085/ISO 3834 quality awareness; repair/rework and failure analysis; and a final integrated fabrication practicum.

The programme may use structural steels and common railway fabrication examples as its principal training context. Aluminium, stainless steel, high-strength steels and other materials may be introduced where facility capability and programme scope justify them.

Academic orientation

Specialist practical foundation in railway welding, fabrication, metallurgy, joint preparation, process control, dimensional accuracy, inspection, NDT awareness, welding quality, repair/rework, traceability and supervised workshop competence

PAK separates academic learning from statutory or employer authorization. Completion of academic study does not by itself confer authority to perform licensed, certified or safety-critical railway duties.

Railway curriculum and structured technical learning

Curriculum

Progress from prerequisites into programme-specific technical depth.

The governed curriculum defines module or semester sequencing, prerequisites and technical scope. Programme pages present that structure without inventing credits, contact hours, assessment weights or regulatory claims that have not yet been approved.

Hands-on railway practical training

Practical learning

Connect engineering concepts with components, systems and controlled exercises.

Practical activity may include workshop demonstrations, laboratories, simulations, component identification, measurement or case-study work where appropriate to the programme.

Academic practical learning supports understanding and judgement; it does not independently authorize safety-critical work.

Railway workshop and laboratory environment

Workshop & laboratory

Study railway systems in an environment that makes interfaces visible.

Rolling stock, mechanical, electrical, control, manufacturing and operations pathways use different practical contexts, but all retain the same principle: system understanding before unsupported competence claims.

Railway engineering career pathways

Career pathways

Build knowledge relevant to railway technical and professional environments.

Career-pathway information is descriptive, not a placement guarantee. Roles, employer requirements, certifications and statutory competence remain dependent on the jurisdiction, employer and specific railway function.
