PAK-C12 · Certificate
Certificate in Railway Operations & Logistics
6 Months · 12 two-week modules. The current curriculum architecture focuses on railway operations, logistics, passenger, freight and terminal-system foundations.
Programme overview
A structured railway-learning pathway
PAK-C12 develops entry-level to intermediate railway operations and logistics knowledge for learners preparing to support railway undertakings, infrastructure managers, freight operators, terminals, stations, control-support functions, logistics providers, passenger-service organizations and related transport businesses.
The programme teaches how railway services are planned, organized, communicated and monitored across the operating chain. Learners build a practical understanding of train paths, timetables, capacity constraints, station and yard interfaces, passenger flows, freight and wagon movements, intermodal terminal processes, disruption impacts, cross-border information flows, operational performance and digital railway information.
PAK-C12 is intentionally narrower and more vocational than PAK-D04 Railway Operations & Transport Management. The two-year diploma develops deeper quantitative, commercial, control-centre, traffic-regulation, capacity, disruption, analytics and management competence. C12 provides a structured foundation that can support entry-level operations/logistics roles or progression into the diploma.
Academic orientation
Vocational railway-operations and logistics foundation covering network actors, operational safety, infrastructure/rolling-stock/signalling interfaces, train planning, timetables, capacity, traffic-management awareness, stations/yards/terminals, passenger services, freight and wagon flows, intermodal logistics, disruption management, cross-border freight, interoperability, performance/KPIs, digital operations and integrated simulation
PAK separates academic learning from statutory or employer authorization. Completion of academic study does not by itself confer authority to perform licensed, certified or safety-critical railway duties.

Curriculum
Progress from prerequisites into programme-specific technical depth.
The governed curriculum defines module or semester sequencing, prerequisites and technical scope. Programme pages present that structure without inventing credits, contact hours, assessment weights or regulatory claims that have not yet been approved.

Practical learning
Connect engineering concepts with components, systems and controlled exercises.
Practical activity may include workshop demonstrations, laboratories, simulations, component identification, measurement or case-study work where appropriate to the programme.
Academic practical learning supports understanding and judgement; it does not independently authorize safety-critical work.

Workshop & laboratory
Study railway systems in an environment that makes interfaces visible.
Rolling stock, mechanical, electrical, control, manufacturing and operations pathways use different practical contexts, but all retain the same principle: system understanding before unsupported competence claims.

Career pathways
Build knowledge relevant to railway technical and professional environments.
Career-pathway information is descriptive, not a placement guarantee. Roles, employer requirements, certifications and statutory competence remain dependent on the jurisdiction, employer and specific railway function.
